My inspiring teacher
Many years ago I couldn't understand the meaning of the word inspiration, and how a person could be inspired by somebody or something. But now I know for sure that one person can change all our lives and views, inspire us confidence, be the reason of our motivation and encouragement, and play a big role in our success.
I was in my 3rd grade when started learning English. I was very happy; my dream was coming true. Learning and knowing English could help me to watch my favourite Disney cartoons in English and read their original tales. I was working very hard and looking forward to my every English lesson. But during the winter time I caught a cold, later it was discovered that I had pneumonia and wasn't allowed to go to school. When I went to school after a while I was told by my classmates that soon we had to have a quiz-game on English, and the winners would get prizes and rewards. During the quiz the raters were to check our knowledge of English we had learned so far; vocabulary, grammar, spelling. Everyone was happy that day, but I was anxious and worried. I realized that I had missed a lot because of my illness. I felt even more depressed after the competition. Although being a good pupil at school I failed to get a single prize. I was so touched that could hardly keep crying and went home in despair.
The next day at the lesson my English teacher noticed that I was sad; she came up to me, stroked my head and said I needn't worry about anything. She encouraged me and said that I should believe in my abilities, and my failure was only because of my illness. She offered her help after classes, and said I would be able to catch up with my friends very soon. She said I had a good potential of learning foreign languages and my pronunciation of English was very good. She inspired confidence in me and I started studying harder, showing great interest in every English lesson. Very soon I was ahead of my class. Her lessons were fun for me. At our lessons we watched films in English, learned poems and songs, organized events on British and American holidays. I loved my English teacher and her classes very much; I was inspired by her good-nature and intelligence.
I know that good knowledge of the language will give me a chance to travel and see different countries, get acquainted with many people and cultures. I am eager to participate in English language Olympiads and exchange programs, deepen my knowledge and skills in the language.
Unfortunately my first English teacher Mrs. Abgaryan isn't in Armenia now; she lives in Russia with her family. I am grateful to her for my success and achievements; now I never give in easily and know how to struggle for my aims and ambitions. Mrs. Abgaryan was not only a good teacher and a skillful specialist, but also a kind person who knew how to relate well with her pupils. I can say that she has become my inspiration. I am eager to become an English teacher and a good person like her. I hope my dream will come true.
