The Dickens Hero Mr. Scrooge – an active player of social networks.
“Jingle bells, jingle bells” was singing Scrooge himself.
It was Christmas Eve. He was very sad because the streets were very deserted and even two or three people in the street who Scrooge could see they were also busy with their laptops. He couldn’t see any Christmas tree.
“How is it possible?” thought Scrooge.
Only some years ago everything was opposite. He was the only person who hated Christmas. But he has changed and now he waited Christmas very much. What happened to the people? All were at home in front of their computers and spent time in social networks. And nobody except Scrooge liked Christmas. Only he remembered and sang Christmas carols, only he decorated the Christmas tree. He was walking and thinking why people had stopped to give presents to each other, why they didn’t sing Christmas carols and why, why, why? But he knew the answer. He had to do something to stop using computers and social networks so much. He realized he had to change the world like the time when he had been changed by his friends and relatives.
He looked at the clock. It was 9 o’clock p.m. He hurried home.
Oh home! Sweet home! When he opened the door, he saw his Christmas tree with twinkling lights and bright red balls. It was so beautiful. He was standing in front of it smiling like a little child of the previous time when everybody was happy to celebrate Christmas. He wanted everybody had such a beautiful tree at home.
He looked at the clock.
“Half past 9” thought he, “I must start”.
He had an idea. Some time ago he created a game. It was a computer game. He was an active player of social networks therefore he knew how to run the new game. He used social networks very much like all people but in compare with them he hadn’t stopped to notice the beauty and the magic of Christmas time. He was eager to run his game which would be able to help the situation. It was Christmas time and he believed that everything was possible at that magic time.
The idea of his game named Merry Christmas was to fight with computer geniuses. If the player could pass all the levels he would get the prize. What prize? It was a great secret. It would be opened only for one player who would be able to play the game up to the end passing all the levels. That’s why Scrooge hoped it would be more interesting for the players. The computer geniuses wouldn’t let the players to visit the past as they didn’t want the players to see and remember Christmas magic time of the previous years.
Scrooge looked at the clock again. He had very little time. He believed in success but anyway he was worried and excited so much.
It was exactly 10 p.m. He opened all the social networks which existed and started to run the game. Half an hour later he noticed that users were playing that game very enthusiastically. It inspired Scrooge more. He reminded the player that they had to finish the last level just at 12 o’clock with the last stroke of the clock.
The time passed. Nobody had won yet. Scrooge was disappointed and he was afraid that his idea would fail. It was already five to 12 a.m. Five minutes till the midnight and there was only one player who had passed all the levels except the last. Scrooge prayed and watched the game very carefully. The player was very stubborn and it made Scrooge hope. The player tried and tried again. Scrooge was interested very much who the player was. And he prayed and prayed.
4 minutes, 3 minutes 2 minutes and ….
“Oh! It’s great!” The player won.
“Who was the player?” thought everybody.
Scrooge couldn’t believe. How he was surprised when he saw that it was his Tiny Tim for whom he had become a second father! Scrooge was the happiest man in the world and now the whole world could be happy like him. Just at that moment the clock struck midnight. Christmas! Merry Christmas! Merry Christmas everyone! People looked round and started to feel happy. They forgot about their games and social networks. It was Christmas time for everybody and they had parties round the most beautiful Christmas trees.
